Love Island USA's Yulissa Escobar Exits Show After Racist Slur Videos Resurface

Published: June 5, 2025

Just days after the season 7 premiere of Love Island USA, original Islander Yulissa Escobar has exited the show. The news was announced during the second episode, with Peacock confirming her departure but providing no further details.

The controversy surrounding Escobar began when videos of her using racist slurs on podcasts resurfaced after the cast announcement on May 29. The videos, which showed Escobar saying the N-word on two separate occasions, sparked outrage among fans, who vowed to vote her off the show once voting began.

Before her exit, Escobar had coupled up with Ace Greene, much to the dismay of fans who felt she was stepping on the toes of other women in the villa. Greene was originally paired with Chelley Bissainthe, and Escobar's decision to pursue him was met with criticism from viewers.

Escobar was one of the first 10 islanders to enter the Fiji villa, along with Greene, Bissainthe, Jeremiah Brown, Nicolas Vansteenberghe, Taylor Williams, Austin Shepard, Belle-A Walker, Huda Mustafa, and Olandria Carthen.

The seventh season of Love Island USA premiered on Tuesday, June 3, but was delayed by nearly 45 minutes due to technical issues. The show will air daily, except Wednesdays, at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock.
