The pop-punk singer said that her parents made a 'lot of sacrifices' for her over the years in an Instagram post on Wednesday, June 4.

Avril Lavigne brought her mom out on stage at her concert held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, May 30. And in a subsequent Instagram post, Lavigne shared a video and images of the special moment.

"I brought my Mom up on stage last night !!!!" the Instagram post shared on Wednesday, June 4 began. "Ever since I was a little girl, both my mom and dad saw something in me and encouraged me to practice very hard and pursue my dream of becoming a singer/ musician."

Lavigne concluded by writing, "They made a lot of sacrifices for me and I could not be where I am today without them. Mom thank you for believing in me. I am grateful to both my parents. Thank you for everything, I love you both! ❤️❤️❤️"

On stage in N.Y.C., the singer recounted her mom telling her "you're going to be a singer one day" after Lavigne sang "Jesus Loves Me," much to the delight of the audience. "When I was two years old, she knew I was going to be a singer," the star added.

The "Complicated" singer wore fishnet stockings paired with a black patent leather pleated skirt and a sheer black top for the show. She completed the look with her signature long blonde waves and knee-high black Dr. Marten's tie-up boots that included a "Sk8er Boi" logo in homage to her hit 2002 song.

Lavigne is currently on her Avril Lavigne: The Greatest Hits tour. The Canadian singer rose to fame with hits like "I'm With You" and "Girlfriend," striking a chord with young adult audiences.

Lavigne also co-wrote Kelly Clarkson's breakthrough hit "Breakaway," which was intended for her 2002 album Let Go. Instead, it was recorded and released by Clarkson as part of The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement soundtrack in 2004. The singer recorded and released her own version in 2022 in honor of the 20th anniversary of the release of Let Go.

In 2024, she released a Greatest Hits album ahead of her accompanying tour. "Can't do a greatest hits tour without a greatest hits album!!!" the Grammy-nominated singer wrote on Instagram at the time alongside her album cover art. "Dropping June 21st 🩷💚🧡🖤."

Lavigne's next tour stop will be Niagara Falls on Thursday, June 5, according to her website.
