Michelle Obama is set to release a new book this fall, titled "The Look", which documents her style evolution over the years, from her time in the White House and beyond. The book, which will be published by The Crown Publishing Group, an imprint of Penguin Random House, will feature over 200 photographs, many of which have never been seen before, tracing Obama's fashion trajectory - from the moment she first entered the public eye during husband Barack Obama's campaign for U.S. Senate to her time in the White House and beyond. In the foreword of "The Look", Obama writes, "It's time for me to reclaim my story - what fashion and beauty mean to me - in my own words."

Obama also writes in the book, "During our years in the White House, people were constantly commenting on my looks and dissecting my clothing choices. That's part of why I decided to write this book now: it's time for me to reclaim my story - what fashion and beauty mean to me - in my own words."

The book will also include insight from Obama about the ways she's utilized fashion - from dresses to suits and active wear - to highlight her larger message. Obama writes in the book, "I'm grateful that I've reached the stage in my life where I feel empowered and free to do what I want and wear what I want."

The book, written with Obama's stylist Meredith Koop, also features the voices of influential figures in her style journey, including makeup artist Carl Ray, hairstylists Yene Damtew and Nejeri Radway, and other designers she's worked with over time.

Professor Farah Jasmine Griffin writes in the book's foreword, "She stood before us as a leader, giving us the charge to fight for a better and more just world, assigning us the task of getting to work, reminding us that the price of citizenship in a democracy is that we each 'do something.'" Griffin continues, "The look, like the woman, was bold, powerful, forward-looking, visionary and empowering for everyone who dares to believe in the possibility of better tomorrows."

In addition to "The Look", Obama is the author of the bestselling 2018 memoir "Becoming", as well as its 2022 follow-up, "The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times". "The Look" will be published on November 4 and is now available for preorder, wherever books are sold.
