Saturday, June 7, marked a major milestone for the beloved 1985 film, The Goonies. The cast took to social media to celebrate the movie's 40th anniversary, sharing heartwarming tributes and nostalgic memories.

Celebrating the Legacy

Ke Huy Quan, who played Data, shared a clip from the film on his Instagram Stories, featuring Sean Astin's character Mikey's inspiring "Goonies never say die" speech. Quan wrote, "Happy 40th my fellow Goonies! Thinking of you today."

Sean Astin, who played Mikey, posted a collage of photos from the movie's set on his Instagram Stories, with the message, "NEVER SAY DIE." He also shared the same movie clip as Quan, writing over it, "Years Ago. Love You Goonies."

Nostalgic Visit to Astoria

Corey Feldman, who played Mouth, celebrated the milestone by making a nostalgic visit to Astoria, Oregon, where the movie was filmed. He shared photos and videos from his trip on Instagram, along with a lengthy message for fans.

Feldman wrote, "I WOULDN'T MISS THE CHANCE 2 CONGRATULATE ALL MY FELLOW CAST & CREW MEMBERS ON BUILDING A 40 YR LEGACY, BUT I ALSO WANTED 2 THANK ALL OF U 4 ALL THE #LOVE! [HONESTLY] WALKING AROUND THIS TOWN IS BLOWING MY MIND, I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS 4 ANY FILM, EVER!"

Goonies Reunion

The cast, including Corey Feldman, Sean Astin, Martha Plimpton, Kerri Green, Robert Davi, and Jeff Cohen, last reunited at Awesome Con in April for a panel moderated by PEOPLE's Breanne L. Heldman. They expressed their enthusiasm for a potential Goonies sequel, currently in development with director Steven Spielberg and original screenwriter Chris Columbus attached to the project.
