John Stamos has spoken out about the devastating loss of Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson, who passed away on June 11. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Stamos shared his heartfelt tribute to Wilson, saying, "Without Brian Wilson, life would be a mistake."
The actor, who has been friends with the Beach Boys since the 1980s, attended the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where he inducted Wilson's cousin and fellow Beach Boy, Mike Love. Stamos recalled his fondest memory of Wilson, saying, "When someone comes up to me and says, 'I got turned on to the Beach Boys because I saw them on Full House,' it's the greatest joy. It's my way of giving back to them."
Stamos also shared a favorite memory of Wilson, where the two broke into a ballroom in Montreal and played the piano together. "He started writing a song. He's like, 'Alright Stamos, you sing rock, roll, and Bruce, you sing this.' One of my greatest memories ever," Stamos said.

The actor also praised Mike Love, saying, "When I watch him sing his songs and the way it moves people, it's just so needed... He has a very playful, childlike quality about him, but he just loves his music and he knows how important it is."
Stamos is set to join the Beach Boys for eight dates on their upcoming The Sounds of Summer Tour, which marks his 40th anniversary playing with the band.
Stamos' tribute to Wilson comes as the Beach Boys' bandmates have broken their silence on his death. Mike Love remembered Wilson as "inseparable in life and afterlife", while daughter Carnie Wilson said she "miss[es] him so much already".
