A former Beauty and the Geek TV star has been accused of killing her partner in South Australia. The 34-year-old woman, who cannot be named due to a suppression order, was arrested after police found the man's body at a property in Port Lincoln on Thursday, June 19.
According to reports, the woman starred on the reality show Beauty and the Geek, which features socially awkward men being paired with beautiful women as they compete to win a prize.
South Australia Police said in a statement that they were called to a Flinders Highway home after reports of a small fire, where they found the man's body inside the premises. The woman was arrested at the scene and has been charged with the man's murder.
Assistant Commissioner Ian Parrott said in a news conference that the victim's cause of death is currently unknown and that the investigation is still in its "very early stages". He added that the incident was not a random attack and that both people lived at the address.
Neighbors described the incident as shocking, saying that the woman seemed "really nice, very pleasant, polite". The former TV star, who remains in custody, was taken to the hospital after her arrest before being charged with murder.
She appeared in court via phone link on Friday, June 20, and is set to appear in court at a later date.
