The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Porsha Williams, has finally opened up about her contentious split from Simon Guobadia in an exclusive interview with People. The 44-year-old reality TV star settled her divorce from Guobadia on June 11, and she's now ready to share her side of the story.

Williams, who returned to the Bravo show this season after a three-year hiatus, admits that she filed for divorce "out of necessity to protect myself." She claims that she was forced to take action after uncovering "complex" issues with Guobadia's legal status, including immigration violations and a history of fraud.

The two met through Guobadia's ex, who also appeared on RHOA, and went public with their relationship on Instagram in 2021. They got married in November 2022, but their union was short-lived. Williams alleges that Guobadia's behavior changed dramatically after they tied the knot, and she felt betrayed and hurt.

"I loved him so much because I trusted him, and I felt safe with him, and that's what I lost," she says. "I couldn't trust him."

Guobadia has denied any wrongdoing and claims that he and Williams had "no issues" as a couple. However, Williams maintains that she was left with no choice but to file for divorce to protect herself and her daughter, Pilar Jhena "PJ" McKinley, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Dennis McKinley.

Williams says that she's relieved that the divorce is finally over and that she can now focus on rebuilding her life. She's been leaning on her mother, Diane, and sister Lauren, for support and has been working on herself, both physically and emotionally.

"I had to do something with that love," she says. "And I decided I wasn't going to let it go to waste. I started giving it to me."

Williams has been keeping busy with various projects, including partnering with Almay as a spokesperson and continuing to invest in her line of sheets, Pampered by Porsha. She's also launched a YouTube channel, Porsha4Real, where she shares her life with her fans.

As for what's next in the love department, Williams admits that she's not ready to date just yet. "It's lonely," she says. "I can't connect with other men."

However, she remains hopeful that she'll find love again and says she would "absolutely" marry again. "I'm so glad that I can say that," she says. "There could be so much hate in my heart from how my ex handled the divorce—but no. God has preserved my heart. And I thank him for that."

For now, Williams is just grateful to have walked through fire with grace. "I'm really proud of myself," she says. "I really feel Porsha coming back. I'm finally able to exhale."
