Entourage fans have always been curious about the backstory of Turtle's real name, Salvatore Assante. Now, Jerry Ferrara, the actor who played Turtle, has finally revealed the touching reason behind the character's name.
In an Instagram post, Ferrara shared that Salvatore Assante was the name of one of his childhood friends who passed away at the young age of 23. Ferrara wrote, "He was the best. He for sure influenced the way I played Turtle. I'm a lot more shy than the character."
Ferrara went on to share fond memories of his time with his friend Sal, describing him as "the life of the party" who "never cared if we got in trouble as long as we had fun and laughed." Ferrara also shared photos from their time together in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Ferrara's tribute to his friend received a lot of love from his Entourage co-stars, including Emmanuelle Chriqui, who played Sloan McQuewick, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who commented with heart emojis.
This revelation has also sparked interest in a potential Entourage reboot. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in 2024, Ferrara and Kevin Dillon, who played Johnny "Drama" Chase, teased the idea of a reboot. While there are no concrete plans yet, fans are hoping that this might just be the start of something new.
