Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, is making waves in the entertainment industry with his acting debut in Happy Gilmore 2. Christopher McDonald, who reprises his role as Shooter McGavin in the sequel, praises Kelce's acting skills, calling him "surprisingly good."
McDonald told PEOPLE exclusively, "Travis Kelce has been out there and I just really liked him as a person. He is really funny. Way too handsome, by the way, but really a good actor actually." He also teased that fans can expect to see some surprise cameos in the film, including top golfers.
Kelce's golf skills were also put to the test, with McDonald saying, "I think he's got game. He's a good athlete. He's a beast. I'm sure he kills the ball." Although they didn't get to play golf together during filming, McDonald is impressed by Kelce's athletic prowess.
In addition to Kelce, McDonald raved about the slew of other surprise cameos in the film, including original cast members like Kevin Nealon. He also hinted at the plot twist in his Shooter McGavin role, saying, "Just know that the top 5%, maybe 3% of the great golfers out there are in. All the legends that we worked with was just pinch me time."
Happy Gilmore 2 is set to premiere on Netflix on July 25, and to celebrate, Subway is launching a limited-time Happy Gilmore Meal starting July 10, featuring a collection of limited-edition collectible cups.
McDonald is thrilled about the revival of the iconic partnership between the film and Subway, saying, "Not only is the sandwich amazing... I love the fact that Subway stepped up to the tee again. You can come in, spend $1 more and get a Happy Meal and get a cup for free!"
