Malcolm-Jamal Warner, the Emmy-nominated actor best known for his role as Theo Huxtable on the iconic sitcom "The Cosby Show", has passed away at the age of 54.
According to People, Warner died while on vacation with his family in Costa Rica, where he accidentally drowned while swimming.
A Legacy of TV Credits
In addition to his eight-season stint on "The Cosby Show", Warner amassed an impressive list of TV credits, including four seasons as the lead actor on "Malcolm & Eddie" and six seasons as A.J. Austin on "The Resident". He also made appearances on shows such as "Sons of Anarchy", "Major Crimes", "Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce", and "Suits".
Awards and Accolades
Warner won a Grammy Award for traditional R&B performance in 2015 and was nominated for spoken-word poetry album in 2023.
In 2015, Warner spoke out about his co-star Bill Cosby, who was accused of rape, saying "He's one of my mentors, and he's been very influential and played a big role in my life as a friend and mentor... Just as it's painful to hear any woman talk about sexual assault, whether true or not, it's just as painful to watch my friend and mentor go through this."
