Jennifer Lopez is ready to take the stage at the 2025 American Music Awards, despite a recent injury during rehearsals. The singer and actress revealed to PEOPLE that she received stitches after hitting her nose during a high-energy rehearsal, but is now "good as new" and ready to host the show on Monday, May 26.
Lopez, 55, shared a photo on her Instagram Stories showing a cut across the bridge of her nose, and later shared another snap of herself icing her injury with a smile on her face. "So... this happened," she wrote, later sharing a photo with her doctor, thanking him for stitching her up.
The singer says that injuries are "bound to happen" when rehearsing a high-energy performance. "I hurt my nose. I hit it in rehearsal and I had to get stitches. It was fine," she says. "A few of us have gotten hurt in rehearsals. We're doing a very high-energy athletic number so it's, I guess, bound to happen."
Fans can expect to see Lopez take the stage alongside other performers, including Becky G and Manuel Turizo, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Gloria Estefan, Benson Boone, Lainey Wilson, Renée Rapp, and Alex Warren. Janet Jackson will also be honored with the ICON Award, while Rod Stewart will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Lopez, who is also hosting the event, says that her return to the AMAs is a special moment for her, having performed on the show 20 years ago. "I've been part of this award show for so long and being part of the American music scene for so many years now, and I can't believe how many times I've actually performed on the American Music Awards. I think it's 10 times! Something crazy."
The American Music Awards will air on Monday, May 26 from Fontainebleau Las Vegas at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
