Billy Joel's daughter Alexa Ray Joel has reacted to her father's recent health diagnosis, expressing her love and support for the music legend.

In an Instagram post on May 24, Alexa shared a black and white photo of artwork depicting a dad holding his daughter's hand, with the words "SOUND UP We love you and we got you, Pop!"

Alexa, 39, continued, "I just wanted to thank you all for the beautiful outpouring of love and support amid the recent news of My Father's health diagnosis. My Dad is the strongest and most resilient man I've ever known … and he's entirely committed to making a full recovery with ongoing physical-therapy treatments as he continues to regain his strength."

The 39-year-old musician, who shares her father with ex Christie Brinkley, added, "The genuine care, empathy, and concern from everyone means so much to him … it means a lot to me, too." Alexa concluded her caption with the lyrics from "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)" — a song he wrote for her, released on his album River of Dreams in 1993.

According to a statement obtained by PEOPLE, Billy's normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) has been made worse by recent concert performances, leading to problems with his hearing, vision, and balance. The statement added that Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy under his doctor's instructions and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period.

Billy, 76, has led to the cancellation of his scheduled concerts, including his shows in New York City this summer, along with performances in New Orleans, Toronto, Santa Clara, Salt Lake City, Washington, D.C., and Liverpool.

Billy has had an illustrious career, winning five Grammys and being nominated 23 times, selling over 150 million records, and having 33 Top 40 hits. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.

Alexa's heartfelt tribute comes after Billy canceled all scheduled concerts following his recent health diagnosis.
