Kate Hudson's youngest child, 6-year-old Rani, is following in her mom's footsteps - and more specifically, the path she carved with her iconic '70s platforms as Penny Lane in Almost Famous.
Before the singer-actress hit the stage at BottleRock Napa Valley on Saturday, May 24, the mother-daughter duo recorded a quick TikTok together set to Lane's legendary line. Hudson, who originally delivered the line, was there mostly for moral support, letting Rani steal the show with her lip-syncing abilities.
“I always tell the girls: Never take it seriously. If you never take it seriously, you never get hurt. Never get hurt, you always have fun,” the 6-year-old mouthed along to her mom's iconic monologue as Hudson watched.
Rani gave it her all, moving her arms around and turning to her mom at one point. Hudson, meanwhile, held a glass of wine in the background, and rocked a very Lane-inspired outfit: a crochet minidress, cowboy boots, and a big pair of sunglasses.
In the comments, fans of Hudson and Almost Famous reacted to the video, repeating other iconic lines from the film and pointing out Rani's resemblance to both her mom and grandmother Goldie Hawn.
“Penny lane shaping a new generation of penny lanes,” one user wrote, while another asked if Rani knows “what iconic shoes she has to fill??”
“I’m so glad there’s another girl to fill the boots of Kate and Goldie,” another commenter echoed.
Hudson also shared another behind-the-scenes look at her time with Rani at the California music festival on Saturday. In an Instagram Stories post, she and the 6-year-old posed in the doorway of a trailer.
“Gorgeous day for music!” the Running Point star captioned the mother-daughter shot.
Hudson also opened up about Rani and how - as TikTok commenters were quick to notice - the 6-year-old has already begun to follow in her mom's footsteps.
“She's the best. She's so magical,” the proud mom told PEOPLE last year. “She's definitely her mother's daughter. It takes her forever to get out of the house. She's very particular about her wardrobe and her clothes and her vibe.”
The Glorious musician continued, “She is just a total firecracker, but then she's much more emotional than I think I was when I was little. She's much more of an empath where I was like, yeah. She's just very empathetic and emotional.”
Along with Rani, Hudson is mom to son Ryder, 21, whom she shares with ex Chris Robinson, and son Bingham, 13, whom she shares with ex Matt Bellamy.
