Canadian singer-songwriter Grimes has canceled her upcoming Pride event performance due to "family issues."

The 37-year-old singer, whose real name is Claire Boucher, announced the cancellation on X Sunday, May 25, stating that she needs to "deal with family issues."

"I want to say that I am aware the situation has been a great inconvenience to the fans for some time, and I am truly determined to make sure this is no longer the case very soon," she wrote.

Grimes did not specify the exact event she was scheduled to perform at, but she is listed as a headliner for Washington, D.C.'s World Pride Music Festival, set to take place on June 6 and 7.

Grimes shares three children with her ex-partner Elon Musk, including son X Æ A-Xii, daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, and son Techno Mechanicus.

The singer has been vocal about her concerns regarding her children's online presence and has publicly asked Musk to keep their children out of the public eye.

In February, Grimes accused Musk of ignoring their child's "medical crisis," which led to a series of since-deleted tweets.

Reps for Grimes and World Pride did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
