Janet Jackson, the five-time Grammy winner, received the ICON Award at the 2025 American Music Awards, held on Tuesday, May 13. The award is given to a musician "whose music has had undeniable cultural and global influence over the music industry."
In her acceptance speech, Jackson said, "I love you so much. I am so so honored. I am so grateful. I mean, no disrespect in any way, but I don't consider myself an icon." She continued, "My family, myself, our dream wasn't ever to be famous. We weren't raised like that. We always had a special love for music, dancing, singing, and fame came with the result of hard work and dedication."
Jackson also thanked her team, fans, and "G-d" for the honor, saying, "Because of you and G-d, I'm standing right here." She concluded her speech by saying, "I love you so much."
The 2025 American Music Awards performance since 2018 marked Jackson's return to television. She will also be performing six shows from May 21 through May 31 as part of her Las Vegas residency, JANET JACKSON: LAS VEGAS."
Other highlights from the 2025 American Music Awards include Benson Boone's bold purple patterned suit, the best-dressed stars on the red carpet, and the complete winners list.
