Abby Jimenez, the New York Times bestselling author of "Say You'll Remember Me," has partnered with Sonic to promote reading and help get books into the hands of children across America via the nonprofit First Book.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Jimenez revealed her favorite book series that turned her into a bookworm. She said, "The Xanth series by Piers Anthony was my introduction to binge reading. I would blow through those fantasy novels, and I would go to used bookstores and the library to try and find every single one."
Jimenez is partnering with Sonic, along with fellow romance stars Christina Lauren and Ashley Poston, for the launch of their new Sweet Topped Lemonades, which pair perfectly with a summer beach read. The new drinks come in flavors Classic Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, and Blueberry Lavender Lemonade, and are available in the Sonic App starting May 27 and at locations nationwide on June 2.
As part of the program, Sonic is also partnering with nonprofit First Book, which aims to remove barriers to a quality education for children in low-income communities. The partnership plans to distribute 100,000 books to young readers in the areas served by the chain.
Jimenez said, "I write stories that make you laugh, cry, and maybe believe in love again. Sweet Topped Lemonades may make you feel that way too."
When asked about her perfect summer day, Jimenez said, "My perfect summer day would definitely be a Minnesota summer... I am somewhere comfortable in the shade with a book and something good to drink. That's my perfect summer day."
She added, "Maybe Stuntman Mike is with me. He's in my lap," mentioning her TikTok-famous Yorkie.
