Joey Fatone, one of the original members of the beloved boy band *NSYNC, has shared his thoughts on what it would take to get the group back together.
Fatone, who is currently starring in Broadway's "& Juliet," told PEOPLE that the five members of the group need to have an in-person conversation about a potential reunion. "The five of us need to get together, and that day has not happened yet," he explained. "Everybody's everywhere in the world, and I think it's more important to get everybody in-person as opposed to just getting on a chat or on a phone call."
Fatone emphasized that it's not as simple as just getting on a call, citing the group's busy schedules and family commitments. "People always think, 'Oh, it's easy. Just get on the phone and talk.' There's a lot of things that have to become fortuitous for that — a lot of commitment, a lot of time. Everybody has families. Most people have kids, so then you have to take that into consideration."
Despite the challenges, Fatone remains hopeful that an *NSYNC reunion will happen. "It's one of those things that hopefully, *NSYNC does get back together," he said.
In the meantime, Fatone is enjoying his time on Broadway and has partnered with Red Lobster to celebrate the brand's new $19.99 3-Course Shrimp Sensation. "I'm doing things that are fun when I get a chance, like this Red Lobster commercial. I'm fortunate enough to be able to do fun things, where me being that recognizable is able to do something, and obviously Red Lobster is ridiculously recognizable too."
Fatone also reflected on his career, saying that he's in a place where he can focus on having fun. "I could throw stuff on the wall now and see what sticks. It's not like, 'Oh, I have to do this.' It's more or less, 'What's going to be fun for me now?' I'm 48 years old. What else do I really need? I mean, I got so much more ahead of me, of course, but in the sense of really getting out there and promoting myself, what do I really need to do?"
