Spencer Pratt Defends Heidi Montag's American Music Awards Hair Against 'Wig Haters'

Spencer Pratt has come to his wife Heidi Montag's defense after she faced criticism for her blonde wig at the 2025 American Music Awards. Montag, 38, wore a blonde bob, a departure from her usual long locks, and received mixed reviews online. Pratt, 41, took to TikTok and Instagram to defend his wife, saying that they don't have a $20,000 wig budget like Beyoncé.

Pratt's Response to 'Wig Haters'

On TikTok, Pratt shared a photo of Montag at the event, writing, "For the wig haters please pre-order 'HEIDIWOOD' now so that future wigs have more budget 💕👏." He also responded to a Page Six article about Montag's hair, saying, "A lot of people loved the wig. A lot of people didn't love it so much, but you know what, we're very thankful to be at the American Music Awards and having anyone talking about Heidi's hair. What a blessing."

He added that he hopes he and his wife, with whom he shares sons Gunner, 7, and Ryker, 2, will have "Beyoncé money" one day, as a "really nice wig is $20,000." "We don't have [a] $20,000 wig budget," he said. "So it's a cute little wig for the money we can afford for a wig. It was just supposed to be a fun little 'Oh look at the wig.' And it worked, I guess."

Montag's Reason for the Wig

Montag opened up to Entertainment Tonight at the AMAs about why she wanted to experiment with her hair, saying, "We just thought [we'd] switch it up a little bit and keep it fresh. I've never done this so it's very exciting, and just a moment."
