The season 20 premiere of America's Got Talent was filled with excitement and emotional moments, but one performance stood out from the rest. 23-year-old Jourdan Blue, who has experienced homelessness and a rough patch during his teen years, auditioned for the show to show his son how to "chase your dreams."
Jourdan's life took a turn for the worse when he was 16 and got kicked out of school. He ended up homeless, bouncing from friends' houses to friends' houses or sleeping in bathrooms where he worked. However, his grandfather found out about his situation and took him in, giving him a second chance.
A Street Performer in New Orleans
Jourdan started performing on the streets of New Orleans to provide for his girlfriend and son. However, his life took another dramatic turn on January 1, 2025, when a pickup truck plowed into the crowds on New Orleans' historic Bourbon Street, leaving at least 14 innocent people dead and injuring dozens more. This tragic event made him realize there's so much more to live for, and that's what made him choose AGT.
Jourdan's Emotional Audition
Jourdan performed a powerful rendition of "Breakeven (Falling to Pieces)" by The Script, earning a standing ovation from the judges and crowd. His grandfather was watching from backstage with the help of host Terry Crews, and Jourdan earned a Golden Buzzer from judge Howie Mandel.
Jourdan was overcome with emotion, breaking down in tears and falling to his knees on the stage. As gold confetti fell from the ceiling, Jourdan sweetly grabbed a few pieces and stuffed them in his pockets.
