Taylor Jenkins Reid's New Novel 'Atmosphere' Explores Female Astronauts and Relationships

Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of bestsellers such as "Daisy Jones & the Six" and "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo", has announced her new novel "Atmosphere", which is set to be released on June 3.

The book follows a female astronaut named Joan Goodwin as she joins one of the first NASA teams to send women to space. However, the novel is not just about space exploration, but also delves into themes of relationships, love, and the author's fascination with people.

A Love Story in Several Directions

The novel is a love story in several directions, including Joan's love for the stars, her love for her sister and niece, and the love that develops between her and one of her fellow astronauts.

Jenkins Reid promises that the book continues to follow many of her previous bestsellers, exploring themes of women in male-dominated spaces and how they thrive in those environments.

A Fascination with People

Jenkins Reid's fascination with people is what led her to become an author. She originally aspired to become a casting director and worked in casting for about four years before she realized she wanted to create characters instead.

Now, she gets to watch her books being adapted into screenplays, with her husband, Alex, being a screenwriter. She has praised the casting of her characters, including Riley Keough as Daisy Jones, and Serena Williams as the executive producer of the TV series adaptation of "Carrie Soto Is Back".

However, Jenkins Reid is not stepping away from writing books anytime soon, saying that the majority of her time is spent writing books that she is proud of, and that she is privileged to be able to produce some of the adaptations.

Atmosphere: A Story of Relationships

"Atmosphere" is a story about relationships, and how they drive the plot of the novel. She has said that she doesn't really care about the plot, and that all she cares about are the people and how they work.

The book is available for preorder now, and will be released on June 3.
