The Baylor University football community is in shock and mourning after the sudden and unexpected death of top player Alex Foster on May 28, 2025. The 18-year-old standout athlete's cause of death has not been disclosed.
In a statement, Baylor Football expressed their deep sadness and heartbreak over the loss, saying they are "heartbroken by the unexpected loss of Alex Foster, a beloved teammate, friend, and cherished part of the Baylor family."
Head coach Dave Aranda and athletic director Mack Rhoades extended their condolences to Foster's family and loved ones, saying they will "lift them up in prayer now and in the days to come."
Foster was a highly-anticipated player for Baylor and the highest-rated high school signing of the 2024 class. He redshirted his freshman season after a standout high school career for St. Joseph High School in Greenville, Mississippi.
Tributes and reactions began pouring in on Wednesday after the school confirmed the news. The Big 12 Conference also issued a statement, saying they are "deeply saddened by his passing and join the entire Baylor community during this time of mourning."
