Sarah Silverman has cleared up a lingering question about the third season of The White Lotus. During her May 28 appearance on LIVE with Kelly and Mark, the comedian revealed that she reached out to the show's creator, Mike White, about an awkward interaction between her character and Leslie Bibb's character>
Silverman, who starred in 2003's School of Rock alongside White, said she asked White about the scene served one very small purpose — to really drive home that Posey's character was "a b----".
The Mysterious Encounter
In the show's third season, Posey played Victoria Ratliff, a hotel guest who arrived with her family and stole the show with her dry lines and love of Lorazepam. She had a very uncomfortable encounter with Bibb's character Kate, who vacationed at the hotel with her childhood best friends (played by Michelle Monaghan and Carrie Coon). In the scene, Kate insisted that she knew Victoria and that they had a mutual friend. However, the matriarch of the Ratliff family was not interested in conversing and thoroughly iced her out.
Silverman admitted that she emailed White asking about the scene, "What's up with Leslie Bibb — how come we didn't find out why Parker Posey iced Leslie Bibb?"
White's response? "No, I was just showing that she's a b----".
Could Sarah Silverman Appear on The White Lotus?
Silverman was also asked if she had any interest in appearing in an upcoming season of The White Lotus", which was renewed for a fourth season at the start of the year.
She said that White is "probably not" going to have her appear on the show, agreeing with Ripa, who said that she "would be amazing" as a part of the ensemble cast.
In the meantime, fans can catch Silverman in her new comedy special, PostMortem, which is available to stream on Netflix.
