Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has dismissed rumors suggesting tight end Travis Kelce is considering retirement, stating that his teammate is "motivated" and feeling "good" as he trains in Florida.
In a press conference on Thursday, Mahomes, 29, expressed confidence in Kelce's fitness, saying, "The way he's talking about football, the way he's talking about working and trying to be even better this year than he was last year... he doesn't seem like a guy that it's his last ride, like he's tired of the job."
Mahomes also shared that Kelce, 35, is "working" and his body "feels good" as he prepares for the upcoming NFL season. "I think it feels better than even last year, before going into last season. I think he's motivated to go out there and have an even better year than he had this last," the quarterback added.
The duo will be back on the field this fall, but in the meantime, they are working on opening their steakhouse, 1587 Prime, in Kansas City.
In related news, Kelce's girlfriend, Taylor Swift, recently showed her support for Mahomes by donating a signed guitar to his 15 and Mahomies Foundation Golf Classic gala.
