Todd Chrisley has spoken out for the first time since being granted a full pardon by President Donald Trump on May 27, along with his wife Julie. The couple was found guilty of tax evasion and bank fraud in June 2022 and reported to prison in January 2023.
In a press conference in Nashville, Todd, 57, recalled the emotional moment he was reunited with Julie, 52, after nearly two and a half years apart. He described the experience as "overwhelming."
"Julie and I have been together for over 30 years, and she is my best friend. We have raised our children together [and] a grandchild is now my legal daughter, and we've had all the ups and downs," he said.
Todd shared that he felt similarly shocked when he left the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida, on May 28, where he was collected by his daughter Savannah, 27.
"I don't even know that I felt like it was real at that moment," he said. "And I woke up the first morning, and I was looking around, I'm like, 'This is really real. I'm home.'"
Savannah, who has been fighting for her parents' release since their 2022 conviction and became the legal guardian of Chloe, 12, and Grayson, 19, while Todd and Julie were imprisoned, said her parents are "in shock right now."
"It's just a big adjustment when you're in prison for two and a half years, and then you go back to so-called normal life. I can't imagine," she said.
Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud in June 2022 and reported to prison in January 2023. They were granted full pardons by President Donald Trump on May 27, nearly three years after their conviction.
