Academy Award-winning actress Julianne Moore reflected on the lessons she learned from her late co-star Kathryn Hays on the set of 'As the World Turns' during her early career.
Moore, 64, shared her experience on the May 29 episode of 'The View', where she starred as sisters Frannie and Sabrina Hayes on the soap opera from 1985 to 1988. Hays, who played Moore's mom Kim Hughes, passed away in 2022.
Moore recalled a valuable lesson Hays taught her, saying, "I can remember doing a scene where I was sobbing, throwing myself into her arms, and I buried my head in her chest, and she just picked up my face and turned it toward the camera. She was like, 'Darling, you have to let them see your face.'"
Hays' kindness and professionalism on set left a lasting impact on Moore, who wrote a heartfelt tribute to Hays on Instagram when she passed away. "The beautiful and gracious #KathrynHays has passed away. I worked with Kathryn on #AsTheWorldTurns at the beginning of my career and she treated me with such kindness and generosity, and demonstrated in her every action how to be professional on a set."
Moore also reprised her role as Frannie in 2010 for Kim's wedding anniversary with Frannie's father, Bob (Don Hastings). 'As the World Turns', which premiered in 1956, ended its run later that year.
Moore's career has taken her to the heights of film and television, winning a SAG Award in 2015 for 'Still Alice' and a Daytime Emmy for outstanding ingenue in a drama series for her work as Frannie and Sabrina in 1988.
