Get ready for more Wednesday Addams! Netflix has announced that Lady Gaga will be joining the series as a guest star in the upcoming season, and shared the first six minutes of the season 2 premiere at the 2025 Tudum event.
About the Show
Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega in the titular role, originally premiered on Netflix in November 2022. The show follows Wednesday Addams as she attempts to solve a monster mystery at her new school, Nevermore Academy. With Tim Burton attached as executive producer and a number of A-list stars including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and former Wednesday Addams, Christina Ricci, the show was a major success. What to Expect in Season 2
While an official synopsis for the new season hasn't been revealed yet, the showrunners previously revealed that they plan to delve even more into Wednesday's growth as a character. "The series is really about a girl who sees the world in black and white, and learning there are shades of gray," co-showrunner Al Gough told TVLine in 2022.
In an interview with Elle Fanning for Variety's Actors on Actors, Ortega added that the show is also "ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday" in the new season. "We've decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more," Ortega added. "Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don't want to take yourself too seriously."
Returning Cast Members
Ortega is slated to reprise her titular character alongside Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Moosa Mostafa, Victor Dorobantu, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo.

Not Returning Cast Members
As Netflix confirmed the official cast list for season 2 in May 2024, Deadline reported that Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane, and Naomi J. Ogawa would not be back as series regulars. The outlet added that only McShane is slated to reprise his role as Sheriff Donovan Galpin as a guest star to wrap up his character's storyline.
New Cast Members
In an interview with TVLine, Gough and Miles Millar revealed that they would love to include even more Addams family characters in season 2. "We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles," co-showrunner Millar said.
During Tudum: A Global Fan Event in June 2023, the cast further teased that fans will see more of Wednesday's family in the new season as they recounted various fan theories.
In May 2024, Netflix announced that several notable stars would be joining the cast, including Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor as series regulars.
Another casting announcement came at the 2025 Tudum event, when Netflix revealed that Lady Gaga would be appearing in a guest-starring role.
Other guest stars include Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O'Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotamo, and Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fester in 1991's The Addams Family.
Trailer and Premiere Date
In April 2025, Netflix released the first teaser trailer for Wednesday season 2. In the clip, Wednesday can be seen unloading her weapons — including brass knuckles, a machete, and a taser — while at airport security before returning to Nevermore Academy.
After several creepy scenes play out, Wednesday's mother Morticia warns her that "secrets can have deadly consequences."
"You don't need to worry about me, Mother," Wednesday replies. "I do my best work in the dark."
In September 2024, Netflix released the first behind-the-scenes sneak peek at the season ahead.
"This season is going to be bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine," Zeta-Jones can be heard saying in the 40-second teaser as viewers are shown footage of the cast and crew on set.
Before the clip concludes, Wednesday speaks. "If we showed you any more, your eyes would bleed, and I'm not that generous," she says in her monotone voice.
Filming and Premiere Date
On May 7, 2024, Netflix confirmed that production for season 2 was underway in Ireland as they posted a photo of the cast on set. Deadline reported that filming on the season wrapped in late November.
Wednesday season 2 will be split into two parts, with part one premiering on Netflix on Aug. 6, 2025. Part two will hit the streamer nearly one month later, on Sept. 3.
Future Seasons
Speaking with Variety, Millar revealed that they have a few seasons already mapped out for the show. "For us, it's always looking at the future, and when we sit down to create a show, it's looking at multiple seasons, ideally," he explained.
"That's never expected, but that's the anticipation that hopefully the show is successful. So you always lay out at least three or four seasons' worth of potential storylines for the characters. It can evolve and change," he said, adding, "We certainly have a pretty clear runway of what we want to do in future seasons."
