Brian Wilson, the music genius behind the Beach Boys, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, at the age of 82. The news was announced by his family through an Instagram post featuring a photo of the star.

Wilson was the lead vocalist, songwriter, and bass guitarist of the Beach Boys, a group he formed with his brothers, Dennis and Carl Wilson, cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. He was known for his iconic songs, including "Good Vibrations" and "Surfin' USA."

Throughout his career, Wilson faced various mental health challenges, including depression, substance abuse, and hearing loss in his right ear. Despite his struggles, he continued to create music and perform, earning nine Grammy nominations and two wins.

Wilson was married twice, first to Marilyn Rovell from 1964 to 1979, and then to Melinda Kae Ledbetter, whom he married in 1995. He had two daughters, Carnie and Wendy, with his first wife, and adopted five children with Ledbetter.

Throughout his career, Wilson received numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe nomination in 2016 for writing an original song featured on the soundtrack of the biopic, Love & Mercy, starring Paul Dano as Wilson.

He is survived by his children.
