Jay-Z Loses $1 Million on NBA Finals Bet

Rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z lost a whopping $1 million on a bet that the Oklahoma City Thunder would win the NBA Finals in just five games. The Indiana Pacers took a 2-1 series lead after defeating the Thunder in Indianapolis on June 11, making it impossible for the Thunder to win the series in five games.

According to Fanatics Sportsbook, Jay-Z placed the bet on June 5, which would have earned him $2.3 million if the Thunder had won the series in five games. However, with the Pacers winning a second game, the Thunder will need to play at least six games to win the series.

The Pacers won Game 3 by a score of 116-107, despite the Thunder being 5.5-point favorites entering the game. Oklahoma City star and 2025 NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander said the Pacers "were aggressive" in Game 3, adding that his team needs to apply more pressure.

Gilgeous-Alexander took responsibility for the defeat and said his team is focused on winning Game 4, which tips off on Friday, June 13 at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Meanwhile, Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton's girlfriend went viral for a tense exchange with a fan during the Pacers' NBA Finals loss.
