Todd Chrisley, the star of the reality TV show "Chrisley Knows Best," has shared an emotional moment with his son Grayson, 19, after returning home from prison. In an interview on "My View with Lara Trump," Todd revealed that Grayson asked to sleep in the same room as him and his wife Julie on their first night back home.
"He came in and he said, 'Can I sleep with you tonight?' I said, 'You can,'" Todd recalled, adding that Grayson was "scared" they would be sent away again.
Grayson's reaction was not surprising, given the family's experience over the past two years. Todd and Julie were convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion in 2022 and were sentenced to prison. They reported to prison in January 2023 and were granted a full pardon by President Trump on May 28, 2025.
Todd's daughter, Savannah, also shared her brother's reaction, saying, "The first night he said, 'I'm scared to go to sleep because I feel like I'm just going to wake up in the morning and they're not going to be here.'" Savannah added that Grayson has always been close to her and their parents, saying, "He's taught me more than any person in the world ever could the past two and a half years."
Todd also shared his own emotional experience in prison, saying that he "cried myself to sleep" on his first night away from his family. He added that being away from his kids was "hard," but he could at least talk to them, whereas he was unable to communicate with his wife for 28 months.
The family's reunion was described as "surreal," with Todd saying, "I think for me, I was never away from her because she was in my spirit the entire time. I thought of her every second of my day. And so when I hugged her the first time, it was like I was home in my heart spiritually."
