Ed Sheeran and Olivia Rodrigo took the stage by storm at London's BST Hyde Park on Friday, June 27, as they performed a duet of Sheeran's 2011 hit "The A Team". The surprise collaboration was a treat for the fans, and the two stars seemed to have a blast performing together.
Sheeran, 34, took to Instagram to share a video of the performance, gushing about Rodrigo, 22, and their friendship. "Been a fan of Olivia's since 'Drivers License' blew my mind back at the start of 2021," he wrote. "Both albums [2021's Sour and 2023's Guts] are no skips for me, I'm a proper fan."
The two stars first met in 2022 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where they sat next to each other with their parents. Sheeran recalled, "We first met at the rock and roll hall of fame back in 2022, sat next to each other with her mum [Jennifer] and my dad [John] and went on to hang and keep in touch from there."
Sheeran was already planning to attend Rodrigo's show at BST Hyde Park, but she surprised him by asking him to join her on stage for "The A Team". "I was gonna go watch the show anyway but she hit me and asked to sing 'The A Team' with her, which was such a buzz," he said.
The performance was a special moment for Sheeran, who reflected on the song's 15-year anniversary. "That song turns 15 this year, and I remember playing it to rooms with no one in it in 2010, so to still be playing it to new fans with one of the brightest stars of the next generation is an honour and a privilege," he wrote.

Rodrigo responded to Sheeran's heartfelt note with a sweet comment, saying "you are the best ever ed!!! appreciate you so much. last night was a blast".
Two days after the BST Hyde Park show, Rodrigo went on to deliver a rousing headlining set at Glastonbury, complete with a surprise appearance from Robert Smith to perform The Cure's "Friday I'm in Love" and "Just Like Heaven".
