Scarlett Johansson, the newest addition to the Jurassic World franchise, has revealed that she received a warm welcome from Bryce Dallas Howard, a veteran of the series. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Johansson shared that Howard sent her a lengthy email detailing her own experience with the franchise and the enthusiastic fan base.
"When I first got cast, Bryce Dallas Howard reached out to me and was so excited," Johansson recalled. "She wrote me a whole long email about her experience and how wonderful the fans were and how that was part of the excitement, joining the Jurassic family and having these fans for life."
Johansson, who stars alongside Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali in the latest installment, Jurassic World Rebirth, also mentioned that Laura Dern, a veteran of the original Jurassic Park film, was equally thrilled about her joining the franchise.
The film, which marks the seventh installment in the Jurassic franchise, follows Johansson's character, Zora Bennett, a skilled mercenary on a mission to extract dinosaur DNA for medical advancement. The movie hits theaters on July 2.
Howard, who played Claire Dearing in the previous Jurassic World films, expressed her excitement about the new film, saying, "I'm going to be there in the theater opening day, and they have an amazing cast. I mean, Mahershala Ali, Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey. It's going to be absolutely fantastic."
Johansson, a lifelong fan of the franchise, hopes that the new film will bring the same sense of wonder and excitement to a new generation of fans. "I hope that there are other 10-year-olds that have the same experience that I did when I saw the first Jurassic in theaters, where they can just be completely carried away for two hours. It makes you dream," she said.
