Jennifer Aniston has been cast as the "narcissistic mother" of a child star in an Apple TV+ series based on Jennette McCurdy's bombshell memoir, "I'm Glad My Mom Died". The dramedy series will be inspired by McCurdy's own life and tense relationship with her mom, who died in 2013.
McCurdy's memoir, published in 2022, alleged years of trauma and abuse by her mother during her years as a child star on Nickelodeon. The 10-episode series, which McCurdy will serve as a showrunner on and write, is inspired by the iCarly star's memoir but will be a more fictionalized version of its events.
Aniston will play a fictionalized version of McCurdy's overbearing, "narcissistic" mother. According to a press release, the series "will center on the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kids' show and her narcissistic mother", the latter of whom will be played by Aniston.

McCurdy alleged in her memoir that she was forced into acting by her mom and dealt with years of trauma and exploitation. She also revealed that her mom was "obsessed with making me a star", so she pursued acting despite being "cripplingly shy".
In her memoir, McCurdy also opened up about suffering from severe eating disorders and the trauma her mom forced on her, including making her shower with her older brother and regularly performing invasive breast exams on her.
This new series is not expected to affect Aniston's role in future seasons of The Morning Show. Season 4 of the hit Apple TV+ series, which Aniston stars in alongside Reese Witherspoon, Mark Duplass, Billy Crudup, and Jon Hamm, premieres in September.
