Michelle Williams has opened up about her breakout role as Jen Lindley, sharing insight into her early career days.
The actress, 44, appeared on Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, where she reminisced about landing the role of Jen Lindley at just 16 years old, one year after she became legally emancipated and was living on her own in Los Angeles.
Williams expressed gratitude for the stability the show brought her, saying, "I thank God that I got that show, and that it plucked me out and landed me on this sleepy southern coastal town, and that I had a job to go to and a place to be responsible to and met a few people there that are still in my life, that I love very much, that are so much a part of me, and had some kind of stability."
Williams also spoke about the challenges many child actors face, including constant auditions and rejections, which can be emotionally draining. She noted that Dawson's Creek was a gift, as she "really wanted it."
The actress also shared that she was able to explore other projects, including the 2001 film Me Without You, which she was "dying to do." The show accommodated her schedule, allowing her to pursue other opportunities.
Williams, who starred in Dawson's Creek until its 2003 finale, is currently starring in Dying for Sex.
