Mummy Pig and her husband Daddy Pig are already parents to son George and daughter Peppa. The happy news that Mummy Pig had given birth to a baby girl was revealed via Instagram on Tuesday, May 20. "On this joyous day, we announce the birth of our sweet baby girl," the official Peppa account shared alongside a clip of a town crier exclaiming that "Peppa and George have a baby sister!".
On the U.K. talk show Good Morning Britain, host Richard Arnold revealed that the new arrival's name would be Evie, named after Mummy Pig's Aunt Evie. "She was born at 5.34 this morning," Shepherd noted, adding that "understandably, Mummy Pig is resting."
Baby Evie's Arrival
Baby Evie was welcomed into the world at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London, where Kate Middleton gave birth to all three of her children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
Evie will be the first new character in the much-loved children's animated series for 20 years when she joins the cast. Per The Independent, fans can expect to see the new baby on screen in the fall, but Peppa Meets The Baby, an hour-long cinema special, will be released in theaters on May 30.
Mummy Pig is voiced by actress and comedian Morwenna Banks, while Amelia Bea Smith has been the voice of the title character since 2020.
Peppa Pig's New Addition
Peppa Pig has told the story of Peppa, who lives with Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig, and her little brother George, for more than two decades. In February, it was announced that Mummy Pig was expecting another baby, and the gender was revealed to be a girl in April.
Mummy Pig first announced that she was expecting her third baby with Daddy Pig in February, sharing the news exclusively on Kylie Kelce's podcast Not Gonna Lie. In a clip, the 33-year-old podcaster asked Mummy Pig how Peppa and George are feeling about another addition to the family.
"They're just taking everything in their stride, really. Peppa says she's an even bigger sister now and I'm an even bigger mummy," Mummy Pig said before Kelce quipped, "Kids will humble you."
"It's an exciting change, but it is a big one," added Mummy Pig.
It was also shared on Good Morning Britain that Peppa and her brother George are "thrilled" by the arrival of their new baby sister, while Mummy and Daddy Pig are "looking forward to lots of happy snorts and sleepless nights".
