A heartwarming moment has gone viral, showcasing two toddlers' priceless reactions to finding out their dad, Levin Maaskant, appeared in Hilary Duff's 2005 music video for "Wake Up".
Antoinette, the proud mom, shared the adorable video on her account, @antoinettemaa, capturing the moment her little ones saw their dad on screen. The 20-year-old music video has become a treasured family heirloom.
The Story Behind the Music Video
Levin, now a tech consultant, had dabbled in modeling in his late teens. He auditioned for the music video, which was shot in downtown Toronto. Antoinette explained, "He's a tech consultant now, but he did some modeling when he was around 18, 19 years old."
Levin shared more about the experience, saying, "The actual shoot was two days, and it was mostly in the Distillery District downtown. We were driven around in a 5G, which was like a mock of the end of a car... being dragged by another person." He also recalled the audition process, where he stood out for being awkward, which ultimately led to him being chosen for the video.
The Family's Reaction
Antoinette played the music video for her toddlers, who quickly recognized their dad on screen. She said, "I started by playing the song, then the video for the kids. Of course, they realized it was daddy. They were very young when I first showed them, but it was sweet."
Antoinette added, "It was a song, a whole album really, that I loved and listened to over and over again. I was around 19 when that video came out, so I love showing them what that time was like and what their dad did back in the day."
The video has received an overwhelmingly positive response, with many appreciating the natural reaction of the toddlers. Antoinette said, "I love posting things that make people smile and feel good. I am happy to see that's what I did with this video. This little piece of my family, this small story of my family that I had to share — I'm just glad it made people smile."
