Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever player, has spoken out against the racist slurs shouted at Angel Reese, the Chicago Sky forward, during a recent game. The incident, which occurred during the third quarter, has sparked outrage and an investigation by the WNBA.

Clark, 23, expressed her disapproval of the incident, stating, "There's no place for that in our game, there's no place for that in society." She appreciated the league's investigation and the organization's efforts to address the issue. According to ESPN, fans were heard yelling hateful comments towards Reese, 23, following a chippy play during the game.

The incident has sparked a larger conversation about racism and discrimination in sports. The WNBA has released a statement, saying, "The WNBA strongly condemns racism, hate, and discrimination in all forms — they have no place in our league or in society."

A Rivalry That Goes Beyond the Court

The rivalry between Clark and Reese has been ongoing, dating back to their college matchups in the NCAA Tournament. However, the two players have clarified that it's not personal, and they have a cordial relationship off the court.

Reese has explained, "I don't think people realize it's not personal... Once we get out between those lines… if I see you walking down the street, it's like, 'Hey, girl, what's up? Let's hang out.' I think people just take it like we hate each other."

The two teams will face off again on June 7 in Chicago.
