Emma Watson has finally returned to the Cannes Film Festival after a 12-year hiatus. The 35-year-old actress was spotted arriving at the Palais des Festivals on May 21, looking stunning in a sleeveless dress with a subtle Western twist.

The Harry Potter star paired her breezy dress with colorblock tan suede boots and accessorized with a gold-chain purse and tortoise-shell Ray-Ban sunglasses. This marks her first appearance at the festival since 2013, when she promoted the Sofia Coppola film, The Bling Ring.

The previous day, Watson was photographed arriving at the Nice airport dressed in a black cardigan, ankle-length floral lace skirt, and ballet flats from Aeyde, according to Vogue.

In a December 2023 interview with British Vogue, Watson expressed her gratitude for taking a step back from acting, saying she felt "so glad" to have allowed herself to be messy for a minute and to really allow herself to not know what's next.

Watson's rare public appearances include attending the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Oakland, Calif. in February, where she was "excited to be there," according to a source.

Outside of film, Watson has been busy completing her Ivy League English literature degree from Brown University in 2014 and went back to her studies at Oxford University. She also launched her own gin brand, Renais, with her brother Alex in 2023.
