Jessica Simpson has finally returned to the small screen, and she did it with a bang! On Sunday, May 18, she performed on American Idol during the season 23 finale, marking her first TV appearance in 15 years.
The singer and fashion designer took to the stage to perform her new song "Blame Me" from her Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1 album. She was later joined by former contestant Josh King for a rendition of her 2005 cover of "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'," which she recorded for the Dukes of Hazzard soundtrack. The performance was met with excitement from fans, with one gushing, "BRAVO So happy she is back with incredible new music!!"
Simpson's hair transformation was also a major talking point, as she debuted her new dirty blonde color. Her hairstylist Rita Hazan described the color as "more natural," like "a kid on the beach" and told PEOPLE that the shade of blonde was a "desert sunset blonde," that took "two hours" to finish.
Hazan said that Simpson "loved" her new blonde locks, explaining the transformation from her previous shade of blonde. "She was so happy to get a new look and switch it up," she added. "She always had a super buttery blonde — this time we wanted something new and youthful."
