Kevin James has revealed the story behind his hilarious performance with Jelly Roll, calling the country star a "wonderful human being."
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, James explained how he and Jelly Roll came to perform together at the Buckeye Country Superfest in Ohio earlier this month. "I'm a good friend of his," James said, adding that the two stars simply "went out and had fun" together.
The King of Queens star, 60, joined Jelly Roll, 40, onstage for a rendition of "Need a Favor," with James showing off his dance moves in a head-to-toe black outfit.
James also revealed that he would consider starring in a Broadway show, but only if it involved dancing. "I was born to dance, so if there's a dancing show, then I would be interested," he said.
In other celebrity news, Bill Hader's animated Dr. Seuss movie, The Cat in the Hat, has unveiled its first teaser trailer, while Lizzo has opened up about feeling "very paranoid and isolated" amid a sexual harassment lawsuit.
James was attending a gala performance of Heathers the Musical, which is currently playing Off-Broadway at New World Stages through September 28. The show is based on the 1989 cult film of the same name and centers on high school student Veronica Sawyer, who suddenly becomes popular after she joins the Heathers.
Meanwhile, Jelly Roll is on tour, with stops planned throughout the summer and fall. His most recent album, Beautifully Broken, was released in October 2024.
