Brian Austin Green is addressing the drama surrounding his relationship with ex Vanessa Marcil, and he's not backing down. The 51-year-old actor told PEOPLE at the 32nd Annual Race To Erase MS Gala on May 16, "It's not pointing fingers, placing blame on anyone. If she takes things that way, then there's nothing I can do about it."
Green added that his intention is to help people who have gone through similar situations, saying, "Our intention is to help people. And people go through toxic situations and tough situations, and the best you can do is be open and honest about it and hopefully steer other people clear of those situations or help them get through them."
The drama began when Green shared on his Oldish podcast that his relationship with Marcil was "toxic." He explained that his mother's tendency to "smother" him impacted his romantic relationships, saying, "I had some major missteps because of that. I mean, the relationship that I had with Vanessa was very toxic in that way. Like, it wasn't a loving, caring relationship."
Marcil responded to Green's claims by sharing a photo of a text exchange between the two, which appeared to show a cordial conversation about their son's graduation.
Green and Marcil began dating in the late 1990s and got engaged in 2001, welcoming their son Kassius Lijah Marcil-Green in 2002. They split in 2003.
