Nia Sioux Takes Back Her Story with New Memoir 'Bottom of the Pyramid'

Nia Sioux, the 23-year-old Dance Moms alum, is reclaiming her experience on the hit Lifetime reality show with her new memoir, "Bottom of the Pyramid: A Memoir of Persevering, Dancing for Myself, and Starring in My Own Life."

The title of the book is a nod to the show's infamous pyramid, where dance teacher Abby Lee Miller would rank her students based on their performance, behavior, and score at the previous week's dance competition, often leading to arguments and drama.

"I felt like my story wasn't told the way it should have been told, and what better way to reclaim that title and turn it into a positive than naming my book 'bottom of the pyramid?'" Sioux says. "I might as well utilize it and make something beautiful out of it."

The memoir, which hits shelves on November 4, 2025, explores Sioux's experience on the show from 2011-2017, including being ostracized for not fitting into an aesthetic that wasn't designed for girls like her. This led to her friendships and mental health to crumble, and she lost control of her story and her voice.

"Being the only Black dancer for a majority of the show had lasting effects on me," Sioux adds. "There are certain aspects of my experience that I haven't opened up about publicly or to my fellow cast members."

The book is a reminder not to let anyone put you in a box, not to let anyone label you, and if they label you, turn it into something great.
