Jodie Foster, the renowned actress who starred in Disney's 1976 original "Freaky Friday" opposite Barbara Harris, has explained why she turned down a cameo appearance in the new sequel, "Freakier Friday".
Foster, 62, revealed in an interview with Variety that she was too busy making a different movie, "Vie Privée", to appear in the sequel. She also shared that she has a good friendship with Jamie Lee Curtis, who stars in the new film.
Foster's Reason for Declining the Cameo
"I was busy doing this movie," Foster said, referring to "Vie Privée". "But Jamie Lee Curtis is a really good friend of mine. I followed the shoot and all that stuff."
Foster also opened up about her early start in the acting industry, stating that she "would never have chosen to be an actor" if she hadn't been "thrown into it at age 3".
Foster's Thoughts on Comedies
Foster also shared her reasons for not often taking on comedic roles. "I don't love doing comedies in English. And maybe it's because, in America, when we make comedies, they don't have a lot of subtlety or intelligence. For me, that's essential," she said.
Foster added that comedies are "much harder to make than dramas" and that she gets bored with them after a week.
