Jonathan Jackson is leaving General Hospital for the second time, and his final episode as Lucky Spencer will air next week. The 43-year-old actor has won five Daytime Emmys for his portrayal of Lucky, the son of Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis).
General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini expressed gratitude for Jackson's return, saying, "We were so glad Jonathan was able to reprise the role of Lucky, even if it was for a limited time. We wish him nothing but the best, and the door is always open for Jonathan to return."
Jackson first played Lucky between 1993 and 1999, and then returned between 2009 and 2011. He made a brief comeback in 2015 during Geary's exit storyline. His most recent return was in August 2024, which saw him reunite with Francis.
Recent episodes of General Hospital hinted at Jackson's departure, with Lucky proposing to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) in a romantic picnic in the park. However, Elizabeth gently turned him down, and Lucky decided to leave Port Charles, saying it's not his home anymore.
Actor Guy Wilson took over as Lucky for a few episodes during Jackson's brief hiatus in February. Jacob Young and Greg Vaughan have also played the role in the past.
