Amanda Seyfried is speaking out about her disappointment with Paramount Pictures, alleging that the studio has not compensated her for using her likeness on Mean Girls merchandise.
In a recent conversation with Adam Brody for Variety's Actors on Actors segment, Seyfried expressed her resentment towards Paramount, stating, "I mean, I'm a little resentful because Paramount still owes me some money." She went on to explain that the studio has been selling Mean Girls T-shirts with her face on them, without compensating her for the use of her likeness.
Seyfried, who played the role of Karen Smith in the 2004 teen comedy, questioned whether her age at the time of filming might have contributed to her missing out on the payment, asking, "Is it because I was dumb?"
Despite her disappointment, Seyfried expressed gratitude towards fans who continue to support her and her co-stars, including Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and Lacey Chabert. She recalled a recent encounter with a fan who told her that Mean Girls was her favorite movie, saying, "I'm like, 'Great, I was 17, I had nothing to do with it.'"
