Joe Exotic's husband, Jorge Marquez Flores, has been deported to Mexico from the United States just hours after his release from a Texas prison. The couple met and got married while in a Texas prison, where the "Tiger King" star is currently serving 22 years in prison for two counts of murder-for-hire and other animal-related crimes.
Flores, 33, was taken to an ICE Detention Center for a hearing to either remain in the US or be deported to Mexico. However, TMZ reported that he was deported just a few hours later. Joe Exotic confirmed the deportation of Flores via social media.
In a post, Maldonado-Passage, 62, wrote on Instagram on Monday, May 19, "Rough day getting around. The ICE agents didn't understand why he got sent back so fast. He had a hearing scheduled for tomorrow." He pleaded with President Donald Trump to help reunite him with his husband.
Background on Joe Exotic and His Husband
On Monday, April 21, the Tiger King star announced that he had wed Flores while the pair were both in prison. He shared a photo on X of himself and his new husband on April 22 to mark the milestone.
Joe Exotic proudly revealed in October last year that he was set to marry Flores after getting engaged while they were both incarcerated. Soon after, he told Entertainment Weekly that they "love each other very much [and] spend every minute of the day together."

Joe Exotic's Conviction and Sentence
In April 2019, Maldonado-Passage was convicted of plotting a murder-for-hire against his nemesis, animal rights activist Carole Baskin. A federal grand jury indictment accused him of hiring two people — one of whom was an undercover FBI agent — to kill her.
He served as his own attorney in a federal trial where a jury found him guilty of two counts of murder-for-hire, eight counts of violating the Lacey Act for falsifying wildlife records, and nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act.
In January 2020, he was sentenced to 22 years in prison. He currently resides in the Federal Medical Center Fort Worth, Texas, where he wed Flores.
