Jen and Zac Affleck, stars of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, have spoken out about the toll that the show's first season took on their marriage.

In a recent episode of The Viall Files, the couple opened up about the challenges they faced, including the opinions of others about their relationship.

Zac shared that the couple was already struggling when they started filming season 1, which made things worse. "We went through hell, to be honest," he said. "Season 1 had a lot of ups and downs, and unfortunately, it only showed a lot of the negative."

Jen added that she felt like Zac's parents blamed her for how he came across in the show. "I do feel like I was blamed based on some comments that were made from what's shown on social media," she said.

Zac acknowledged that his family was defensive of him, which made Jen feel unsupported. "I think it was just a really tricky situation to navigate because what do my parents say? 'Hey! We wanna congratulate you on this show where our son looks like an a------,'" he said.

The couple has been working on their relationship, trying different kinds of therapy and communication. "We're more of a team now," Zac said. "But yeah, we were going through a ton season 1, and there was a lot that led up to Vegas that was never shown."

Jen added that they are grateful that everyone has learned from the situation. "I'm so grateful because I also feel like his family has been able to take a step back and also see everything," she said.
