Taylor Swift's idol, Carole King, has praised the pop star for regaining control of her music catalog. Swift, 35, announced the news on May 30, which was met with support from friends, admirers, and colleagues, including King, who reposted the announcement on her Instagram account with a special message. "You continue to inspire! 🌹💃🎉," King wrote over a photo of Swift raising her hands up in celebration.

The two singer-songwriters have a long history, with Swift introducing King at the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Swift has often spoken about the impact King's work has had on her life, saying that she "cannot remember a time when I didn't know Carole King's music."

King, 83, has been a staple in Swift's home thanks to her parents, who are huge fans of the legendary singer-songwriter. Swift has often spoken about the wisdom she has gleaned from King, including the importance of telling one's own story.

The two singer-songwriters have also crossed paths at various music industry events, including in 2016 and 2019, when King presented Swift with the Artist of the Decade Award at the American Music Awards.
