Andrea Barber, former star of the popular sitcom Full House, has opened up about why her late co-star Bob Saget was "embarrassed" by his iconic character, Danny Tanner.
During a podcast episode of "How Rude, Tanneritos!" with co-host Jodie Sweetin, Barber discussed the differences between the real Saget and the version fans saw on TV.
Saget, who passed away in January 2022 at the age of 65, played the lovable but cleanliness-obsessed patriarch Danny Tanner on Full House. Barber, who played the role may have played a part in Saget's embarrassment.
"I can see watching these episodes, sometimes they took the cleaning Danny Tanner, clean freak thing too far," Barber explained. "And I'm just like, no wonder he was embarrassed, because they made him really nerdy sometimes."
Sweetin added that Saget struggled with the "America's Dad" title, as it was difficult for him to reconcile his stand-up comedy career to his family-friendly image on Full House.

Barber also discussed how Saget eventually came to terms with his dual personas, saying, "I think he got more Danny Tanner as he got older."
The conversation was part of a larger discussion on the podcast about the differences between the real Saget's stand-up comedy career and his family-friendly image on Full House.
Full House originally aired from 1987 to 1995 and continued to find fans for years after the finale thanks to syndication. A five-season revival series titled Fuller House aired on Netflix from 2016 to 2020, with Saget returning in a supporting role alongside Sweetin, Barber, and Candace Cameron Bure.
In a 2014 interview with Vanity Fair, Saget credited Sweetin, Bure, and Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, who played the show's youngest sister Michelle, for being the heart of the show.
As for Saget, he passed away in January 2022 at the age of 65.
