Faster Pussycat singer Taime Downe has opened up for the first time about the death of his fiancée Kimberly Burch, who presumably died at 56 after falling overboard from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in March. In a May 30 appearance on SiriusXM's Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, the "Please Dear" artist spoke about the tragic incident, saying "it's been a rollercoaster" since her death.
Downe, 60, explained that he's taking things one day at a time and is seeking solace in his music. He's hitting the road with artists like Vain, Supersuckers, The Rumours, and The Lonely Ones, hoping that it will be "very therapeutic" for him.
"I'll get to see a bunch of fans and a bunch of friends across the country. So I think it'll be helpful," he said. "My fingers are crossed. I think so. I hope so. I'm just going out and doing what I love to do with the people I love. So, I think it can't be anything but therapeutic, you know what I mean?"
Downe also spoke about the circumstances surrounding Kimberly's death, saying it was "alcohol and prescription related." He added that he doesn't blame anyone but rather the circumstances that led to her tragic fall.
Kimberly's mother, Carnell, had previously told TMZ that her daughter allegedly fallen overboard on the first day of the cruise. She claimed that Kimberly was drinking during the cruise, which was uncharacteristic of her daughter.
Downe's interview comes after PEOPLE reported on the incident, noting that representatives for Faster Pussycat, Royal Caribbean, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, and Entertainment Cruise Productions had not responded to requests for comment at the time.
