Draymond Green, the power forward for the Golden State Warriors, revealed that his two older children are already displaying athletic abilities, but he doesn't think any of them will be future basketball stars.
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Green discussed his blended family with wife Hazel Renee, sharing daughters Cash Green, 4, and Hunni Green, 19 months. They also co-parent Draymond's 8-year-old son Draymond Jamal "D.J." Green Jr., from a previous relationship with Jelissa Hardy, and Renee's 10-year-old daughter Olive Jay, whom she shares with Jacob Pullen.
Athletic Abilities Emerge
When asked if his children were displaying any athletic abilities yet, Green revealed that his two older children are involved in sports. "My 10-year-old, she's in competitive cheer. She's in dance, piano, She's more artistic," he said about Olive. His 8-year-old son D.J. plays soccer, and despite showing skills on the basketball court, he's only interested in playing soccer. Green joked that he might "turn into LaVar Ball and push off in the future" if D.J. doesn't take basketball seriously.
While D.J. might not interested in playing basketball, he has expressed interest in working in a related career. "He tells me he's going to be a coach. Like, 'Daddy, imma be a coach in the NBA,'" Green told the NBA in June 2022.
A Supportive Father
Green enjoys spending time with D.J. in the sports world, saying, "It's the most special thing in the world. Growing up as a young African-American man with nothing, you go, and you gain all this success, and you make all of this money." He added, "My fear is that he doesn't understand how to work, that he doesn't understand the things that's going to face him."
